Where Are My Books? by Debbie Ridpath Ohi

Where Are My Books by Debbie Ridpath Ohi on BookDragon“Spencer loved books.” And because he loves them so much, he makes sure to always put his books where they belong so he knows exactly where to find them next time. But one morning, he looks on his shelf and shouts in horror, “WHERE IS MY BOOK?” In spite of searches “everywhere,” his favorite book is “GONE.”

Spencer settles for a substitute title that night, but that goes missing by morning. And every night, another book disappears from his bookshelf. “Things were getting out of hand. Spencer vowed to find out what was going on.” Wouldn’t you?!!!

His parents aren’t particularly helpful and yelling at his little sister only gets him in trouble. So he devises the perfect plan to catch the book thief … and all manner of bookish surprises await, not to mention quite a rollicking adventure involving long string, flying narwhals, fluffy tails, lost bolts, and chomped-on tulips!

Toronto-based Debbie Ridpath Ohi is clearly a book lover with a … shall we say, nutty … sense of humor. Her bold illustrations especially beckon with bright, empathetic expressions which, regardless of age, you’ll recognize as being many of your own: the droopy disappointment, the utter shock of loss, the guilt, the anticipation, the satisfaction. That’s all in there and more, making this just the right book your young ‘uns have been looking for!
